Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), "Brooklyn Loves Green Power" Event
In 2004, NYCEDC began purchasing "Green Power" from ConEdison Solutions generated on an upstate wind farm. NYCEDC immediately became the largest governmental buyer of renewable energy in New York City. To publicize and celebrate this accomplishment, NYCEDC and ConEdison Solutions negotiated to have a press event. Mason co-managed the project for NYCEDC (insurance, staffing plan, press kit, intergovernmental outreach to elected/appointed officials and the script for NYCEDC officials) with ConEdison Solutions providing the funding and other assistance. The results were a well attended event with many dignitaries present and a great promotional opportunity for NYCEDC, ConEdison Solutions and other energy buyers such as Brooklyn Brewery.
The event recieved local press coverage and a large piece in the New York Times.
